Why Professional School Sportswear Starts with Brand Infrastructure

Garden City Academy School Sportswear Case Study

Professional school sportswear is about far more than putting a logo onto a T-shirt.

The most successful school apparel projects begin with strong brand infrastructure. Production-ready artwork, consistent branding, quality decoration methods and careful supplier coordination all contribute to garments that students are proud to wear.

Garden City Academy provided an excellent example of this approach. As a sponsored project, our objective was not simply to supply new sportswear, but to improve the school’s visual assets, protect sponsor branding and deliver garments designed to perform throughout the school year.

The Brief

Garden City Academy required a new set of school sportswear that reflected the school’s identity while recognising the organisations that had generously supported the project.

The challenge extended beyond garment production. Existing logo artwork was unsuitable for professional decoration, sponsor branding needed to remain accurate and consistent, and the finished garments had to withstand the demands of regular PE lessons, sporting activities and frequent washing.

The project required careful planning to ensure every element worked together as one cohesive apparel system.

Brand Infrastructure

Before any garments entered production, the school’s visual identity required attention.

The existing school logo was only available as a low-resolution image, making it unsuitable for professional printing and future reproduction.

Through our Brandworx® process, we recreated the school’s existing logo as clean, production-ready vector artwork, preserving the original identity while making it suitable for professional print, embroidery, signage and future marketing materials.

Rather than solving a single production problem, this created a long-term branding asset that the school can continue using for years to come.

Professional school sportswear begins with professional brand infrastructure.

The Design Approach

The objective was to create sportswear that felt modern, practical and instantly recognisable while remaining accessible for a primary school environment.

Garment layouts were intentionally kept clean and timeless, allowing the school’s identity to remain the primary focus without unnecessary decoration.

Alongside the school branding, sponsor logos were carefully positioned to recognise their contribution while maintaining a balanced and professional appearance across every garment.

The result was a sportswear collection that felt unified, purposeful and appropriate for everyday school life.

Bringing the Design to Life

Strong design deserves equally strong production.

Every garment was manufactured using carefully selected decoration techniques chosen specifically for sportswear applications, ensuring the finished products would retain their appearance throughout regular use.

Production included:

Premium school sports garments
Specialist Stahls UltraColor Max™ DTF transfers for exceptional colour vibrancy
Stretchable decoration suitable for active movement
High wash durability for everyday school use
Precision artwork preparation
Professional quality inspection before delivery

By combining quality garments with premium decoration methods, the finished sportswear was designed to perform both on the playground and in the wash cycle.

Sponsor Integration

The project required careful integration of DM Calibration’s branding alongside Garden City Academy’s visual identity.

The sponsor logo was reviewed and positioned with care, ensuring its colours, proportions and presentation remained consistent with the company’s existing brand guidelines while complementing the school’s identity.

Rather than competing for attention, the sponsor branding was integrated within a clear visual hierarchy, allowing Garden City Academy to remain instantly recognisable across every garment.

The result was a professional sportswear collection that reflected both organisations appropriately while demonstrating how thoughtful brand management can strengthen sponsored school apparel.

Leannda Best

Business Manager, Garden City Academy

"We partnered with The Printwear Company for our school's sports kits and couldn't be happier! From start to finish, their service was outstanding. Communication was clear and prompt, the range of options was impressive, and the quality exceeded our expectations. Excellent value for money too! We highly recommend them to any school looking for top-quality sportswear."

The Outcome

The completed sportswear gave Garden City Academy a professional, consistent identity that students could wear with pride.

Beyond the garments themselves, the project left the school with production-ready logo files, improved brand consistency and apparel that reflected the care invested by both the school and its supporting sponsors.

The project demonstrates that professional school sportswear is not created through printing alone. It begins with strong brand infrastructure, thoughtful design and production methods chosen for long-term performance.

When these foundations are in place, schools receive far more than new garments. They receive a professional identity that supports their community for years to come.
